When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added”
checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three emails
with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove people from that service?

There would be a statement at the end of every mail to unsubscribe the mail updates. Probable in small font size and italics (Just check the last line in the mail you might find it.). You can click on unsubscribe and you will stop getting mail updates for the comments. 🙂
